Hannibal Bank

Almost finished. Some days for dry and I’ll put my signature.
The second pic is a day before finish. I paint blue waves while the purple paint is wet, part by part.
The third and forth are details of the finished painting.

しばらく乾燥させてからサインを入れます。
２番目の写真は完成１日前。 ３，４番目は完成した絵の部分アップです。

自分で撮影した写真を参考にしますが、丸写しにはしません。 I refer photos I took by myself. But I don’t trace any. この写真の時点でカジキは潜ってしまっています。デッキハンドは慣れない釣り人をアシストしています。しかしこれでは絵にならないので、大きく変更しました。 The Marlin was diving deep and the deckhand was helping the angler. So I changed some to make my painting much more dramatic!  

11月になり、年末進行が近づいてきました。オリジナルを描く時間が徐々に少なくなってきます（汗） Not much time for original painting lately…

この絵を現実の色で仕上げると、暗く冷たい印象の絵になってしまうでしょう。熱い戦いを表現するためには、非現実的な色合いが必要です。 I’m looking for a real impression for this painting. If I use real colors in this scene, it will be very cold and dark painting. But it was very hot and exciting fight.

油彩「ハンニバル・バンク」の制作開始。今回は不穏な曇り空。褐色系で下描きです。 Rough sketch on the canvas with brown. No blue sky, no blue water in this situation. It’s from the fourth day of my Panama fishing trip in 2007. ハンニバル・バンクは中米パナマの太平洋岸にある沖の瀬です。カジキやマグロの名所で、盛り上がる海流の中でのファイトは迫力満点。 僚船の釣り人はブラジル人チーム。瀬の海のど真ん中で初めてのスタンダップファイトを40分以上戦い、最後は無念のフックアウト。彼はその夜、一言もしゃべらずに酒をくらってました。

「相模湾」、納竿（筆）します。サインはスタジオで撮影してから入れます。 “Sagami bay” finished. Next painting, Hannibal bank! 次の絵に取りかかりました。タイトルは「ハンニバル・バンク」。 制作記もすぐにスタートします。

ブルーマーリンとブルーウォーターを描きました。ここで一度乾かして、週末に仕上げに入ります。 Painted Blue Marlin and deep water. One more step to finish and I’ll do it in this weekend.

シイラを描きました。これでずいぶんと海らしくなってきました。 カジキを狙ってボウズをくらうと、シイラすら釣れなかった、などと文句を言って外道扱いです。しかし僕はシイラも好きです。とくに洗いとバターソテーが美味！ When people fish Marlin in Sagami bay, they hate Mahi mahi. But I like it. It’s an excellent fish for sashimi, griglia, etc.

絵筆は右利きなので左上のメジの群れから描き始めます。 Young Bluefin Tuna migrate from south to north, stay Sagami bay for a while every Summer.
